    Puccini on the Lake

Torre del Lago is a very special place for lovers of Giacomo Puccini – one of the greatest Italian composers the world has known. While enjoying the picturesque lakeside life, close to nature and immersed in the quiet life he so loved, the Maestro penned some of his most memorable works. Melodies such as ‘E lucevan le stelle’, ‘Vissi d’arte’, ‘O dolci mani’, or ‘Nessun dorma’ might not have existed today had Puccini not had the respite and inspiration Torre del Lago provided. Now you can follow in the footsteps of the legendary composer and get a feel and taste of his life in the magical Tuscan countryside. Get the special package Puccini on the Lake and experience the charms of Torre del Lago!

Your day begins at 11 am and, true to the package’s name, kicks off with a motorboat ride across Lake Massaciuccoli. From the water, you can see many Puccini landmarks in Torre del Lago, including Gran Teatro Puccini, Villa Ginori, Villa Orlando, as well as the composer’s favourite hunting grounds. At noon, your next station awaits: an aperitif at Hotel Ristorante Butterfly. After you replenish your strength with a selection of appetizers, cocktails, and wines, it is time to honour the maestro’s musical legacy with the Puccini Lyric Recital. A soprano, a tenor and a pianist from the Puccini e la Sua Lucca Festival present arias and duets from the composer’s many masterpieces in an intimate arrangement that brings their unique melodic qualities forward splendidly.

A dive into the Maestro’s life and legacy would not be complete without an authentic Tuscan meal. At 1:30 pm, you can enjoy a meat or fish menu with starters, first course and main course, dessert, and a selection of local wines at the Da Cecco restaurant, a stone’s throw away from the hotel. Commencing at 3 pm, Puccini on the Lake’s final station is a one-hour tour of Puccini’s villa, including a visit to his tomb inside the private chapel on the property. Thus, over the course of about five hours, you can experience every aspect of Puccini’s life in the magical Torre del Lago and leave with your heart, mind and belly full of memorable impressions.
