Once you have enjoyed your museum round, the performance of Tosca commences at 8:00 pm. In this 90-minute production, the intense plot that famously unfolds almost in real time is even more cinematic and engaging. Puccini’s skilful operatic characterisation shines brightly in the famous arias such as ‘Vissi d’arte’, ‘O dolci mani’ or ‘E lucevan le stelle’. The story of the jealous and vain singer Floria Tosca, her lover and secret revolutionary Cavaradossi, and the unscrupulous police commissioner Scarpia forms an intense triangle. As the plot takes its many shocking turns, the talented vocal cast and accompanists make Puccini’s fantastic score the centre of the action.
