Open Air Opera Concert

Open Air Opera Concert

Opera goes outside this season with the exquisite Open Air Opera Concert in Rome. Staged on the magnificent Terrace Borromini in the luxurious Pamphilj Palace, the performance features a selection of love arias and duets from timeless masters of opera such as Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini, Ruggero Leoncavallo, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Vincenzo Bellini. The evening begins with an aperitif that you can savour during the performance, and after the concert you can enjoy a short guided tour of the Baroque Palace’s famed terrace La Grande Bellezza. This is a Roman experience in the best aristocratic traditions!

The Open Air Opera Concert begins at 6:00 pm and includes a traditional Italian aperitivo. Prosecco, red wine or alcohol-free drinks accompanied by Italian salami and a selection of cheeses with honey and marmalade offer a tasteful contrast between savoury and sweet. As you sit with your drink in hand on the gorgeous Terrace Borromini, named after the chief architect of Palazzo Pamphilj, a soprano, a tenor and a pianist will take you on a musical journey through the greatest love melodies in opera in an intimate arrangement.

Fans of Italian opera will be especially happy to hear favourites such as Verdi’s ‘Libiamo nei lieti calici’ from La Traviata, Puccini’s ‘E lucevan le stelle’ from Tosca, or Leoncavallo’s ‘Vesti la giubba’ from I Pagliacci. Mozart also makes an appearance with ‘Batti batti, o bel Masetto’ from his hilarious Don Giovanni. These and many more classic opera outtakes make the Open Air Opera Concert a truly versatile and thoroughly enjoyable event!

When the 50-minute musical part of the evening comes to an end, you have the unique opportunity to take a 20-minute guided tour of Palazzo Pamphilj’s famous terrace La Grande Bellezza. Its name translating to ‘The Great Beauty’, it is one of the real-life setting of the Oscar-winning film. Thanks to the palace’s central location on the side of Piazza Navona, you can enjoy a breath-taking view of the Eternal City. No other location in Rome can offer you a panoramic view that includes the amazing sights of Saint Peter’s Basilica, the Pantheon, Castel Sant’Angelo and Trinità dei Monti, as well as many others. This is the perfect way to finish your rich evening full of authentic Italian flavour, majestic architecture and music that tugs at the heart strings.
