    La Dolce Vita

    La Dolce Vita

Ennio Morricone, Nino Rota, Nicola Piovani, Matia Bazar - these are names that speak volumes to movie fanatics and music connoisseurs in equal measure. La Dolce Vita brings their and others' beloved movie songs to life, accompanied by an inspiring ballet performance, all in the mesmerising atmosphere of Rome's Caravita Church.

The event's programme features a soprano and a tenor backed by an ensemble of strings, woodwinds, and a grand piano. Together, they will take you on a musical journey through vocal and instrumental numbers from Italian cinema's classic 1950s - 1960s period, spearheaded by legendary director Federico Fellini.

La Dolce Vita, or The Sweet Life, is a phrase that captures the atmosphere of post-WWII Italy beautifully. The euphoria and excitement of a new era, the freedom and openness to the world, the influx of American goods and culture helped awaken a modern Italian cinematic Renaissance, and a gifted generation of composers made it all the more memorable and palpable.

It is appropriate that this event carries the same title. La Dolce Vita will bring you into that old but not forgotten time with classic movie melodies like Morricone's 'Once Upon a Time in the West', 'The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly', and 'Cinema Paradiso'; Rota's 'Romeo and Juliet', 'Speak Softly Love' from The Godfather, or the eponymous 'La Dolce Vita'; and Piovani's 'La Vita e Bella' among other timeless songs and instrumentals. Italian opera masters Vincenzo Bellini and Giacomo Puccini will also make an appearance, with 'Casta Diva' from Norma and 'E Lucevan le stelle' from Tosca.

In Rome's historic Caravita Church, lavishly ornate in its original Baroque style, the singers and instrumentalists will put on an exquisite musical show, while ballet dancers will embody the compositions' beauty, power, and grace for a truly transporting experience.

La Dolce Vita is a uniquely rich and timeless event which carries in itself the hope, beauty, and positive energy of one of Italy's best artistic eras. Take a trip down memory lane with Rota, Morricone and other masters of melody and let them show you what the sweet life is all about!
